Meghan Spielman is an artist and designer based in Montana, USA who creates unique textile artworks and tapestries. Each piece is hand-woven on her 32-harness computerized dobby loom, which allows for complex structures and patterns, while also celebrating the simplistic boundaries of weaving.

Spielman’s abstract works focus on dynamic interactions between color, material, and structure. Flashes of intuitive, undisciplined color punctuate restrained harmonies of hues, while fiber contrasts range from tactile brushed mohair and silk boucle to reflective metallic lurex and iridescent seed beads. The overall patterns are rhythmic and balanced, with occasional areas that diverge into nonconformity, similar to an aerial view of planned but imperfect farmed land, a balance between order and nature, the controlled and uncontrollable.
