Inspired by the millenary craft traditions of India and Nepal, Balmaceda was born with the purpose of showing that rugs are more than merely decorative elements. Since 2017, we design collections that combine stories with philosophy, that materialize ideas through colors, shapes and textures. These are not intended as objects that are added at the end to the room, but as aesthetic cores around which the whole atmosphere of a space is configured.

Balmaceda is a studio that shares its name with the person behind the project: José María Balmaceda. This is not an easy choice, but a deep conviction: that working life is an extension of personal life. Thus, Balmaceda is born from the anecdotes and learnings that José María has gathered in his spiritual and creative quest. In these autobiographical textiles, there are also traces of those who weave, those who design, those who are part of the project.
